2017 Fall Trend Report

Fixin to Thrill | Fall Trend Report

I paired up with my Partner in Crime and official Blogger Bestie, miss Jonie-blogger at Only if You Love It to go over what we find to be the hottest trends for the upcoming Fall season based off of what we saw on the runways. Tough work but somebody had to do it. We watched, we re-watched and now we’ve assembled a brief roundup of our favorite trends. You’re going to want to have at least a handful of these in your wardrobe if not all of them.

Sheer– For the past few years we’ve seen clothing get more and more transparent and this season is no different. From Maison Margiela’s take on trench coats (obsessed!!) to the ladylike dresses on the Chloe runway, sheer is everywhere and everything. Time to invest in some cute bralettes-if you ask me! As a matter of fact here are a few of my favorites:

Textures– We’ve been seeing velvet the past few seasons which means it’s popularity is ever-growing–a sure sign to solidify staying power. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon just yet, nows the perfect time to start! Fluff is also to be expected from feathers to shearlings seen just about everywhere. Bring it on!!!

Unexpected Layers– Get more mileage out of those fancy dresses or casual summer staples by throwing them over a long sleeved tee for an instant update.

Extreme Sleeves– A trend that keeps pushing the limits. We started with cold shoulder, then met her cousin off-the-shoulder, and this season it’s all about puffy sleeves and the return of shoulder pads. Yes, you guys! It’s time to borrow from your moms closet and bring back that “power-dressing” shoulder pad comeback.

Dramatic Coats– A coat is an investment piece, it’s something that you’ll have for years to come if you buy wisely. This season we’re seeing tons of longer lengths with dramatic movement and bold colors (especially red) but don’t think this is too trendy to hop on-every Winter could use a pop of color. Care for it well and you’ll have it for Winter’s to come.

Patterns– Get ready to see tons of 70’s inspired checkered, modern polka dots, and florals because they ruled the runway. However you choose to rock it, these prints are classic and sure to make their way back year after year.
