Every once in a while you just want to throw on a pair of leggings and a sweater, that was today for me. Partly because I just wanted to wear this super cute blush sweater, partly because I’m very busy today and this is always a simple way to look cute, given you follow a few guidelines.
Always wear a top that hits below your bottom. Leggings leave little to the imagination but that doesn’t mean you have to, adding a longer top even a tunic is ideal and depending on your leggings can sometimes give the illusion that you’re actually wearing skinny pants.
Throw on some boots. OTK or even ankle boots, just throw on something substantial. This gives your look a little dimension, especially with taller boots. Plus the added bonus of covering the ankle helps hide the fact that your wearing leggings.
Find the right thickness. Leggings come in all thickness and fabrics, I love a basic cotton pair just as much as the next girl but be sure you’re purchasing a pair that isn’t see thru. Nothing is worse than bending over and giving everyone behind you a look at your undies THROUGH your pants. EW. Avoid this by trying them on before buying, & I know you “don’t need to try on leggings because you know you’re a small” and you totally are, but still, for me.
Layer. Wear a longline cardigan or light jacket (like my trench below) to give your basic look a little umph with layers. This is also a great option if you passed on the longer top, a blazer or cardi can give you that extra coverage in the back while also lending some chicness to your overall get up.
Accessorize. You know to always finish your look with a few details but this is so much more important when wearing a simple look. Add delicate necklaces or rings for a casual, classic vibe or throw on a scarf and sunnies for instant glam.
How cute is this ring? I’m telling you guys, if you have a Buffalo Exchange in your city go check out their rings and sunglasses, I find some of the chicest most unique pieces there! Plus you can empty out your closet and sell there to make a little extra money.
