Mallorca Travel Highlights: Soller, Palma & Beyond | Ultimate Island Overview
Earlier this spring, right before the start of season, I spent an unforgettable week exploring Mallorca, soaking up its stunning landscapes, island culture, and mouth-watering cuisine. Here’s an overview of my top experiences—perfect for planning your own Mallorca trip.
Santanyí & Scenic Drives
Heading southeast, I discovered Santanyí and its laid-back charm:
- Lunch in the Town Square: Traditional Mallorcan dishes—think frito mallorquín and freshly baked ensaïmada—fuel your afternoon explorations. We stopped at Cassai and were overwhelmed by the size of the tapas, it was amazing!
- Village Hopping: On the drive, I popped into Ses Salinas and Es Lombards, two storybook villages full of cobblestone lanes, historic churches, and artisan shops.
- Coastal Hike & Rocky Beaches: After lunch, I tackled a short hike along the rugged coastline—rewarded with quiet pebble beaches and dramatic sea views.

Söller: Mountain Village Charm
We took a day trip ending in Söller, a picturesque town nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains.
- Plan a full day: There are so many cute villages like Deià and Valldemossa, to stop and explore, be sure to give yourself the full day for this activity.
- Scenic Train Ride: We drove but lots of people took the historic wooden Soller train from Palma—winding through orange and lemon groves—for postcard-perfect views. When I go back I’ll definitely take the train and plan for more time in this charming little town.
- Promenade Drinks: As the sun dipped, I enjoyed a refreshing cocktail on the town’s lively promenade, mingling with locals and travelers alike.
Tip: Parking can be a bit tricky in the little towns, opt for parking a bit out of town and walking.

- Fusion Flavors: This hotspot blends Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. I savored their famous Balagan Menu and was nothing short of impressed by each dish.
- Rooftop Vibes: Enjoy panoramic views of the bay as you dine—ideal for a leisurely dinner at sunset.
Palma de Mallorca: History & Luxury
I also explored Palma, the island’s cosmopolitan capital.
- La Seu Cathedral & Bellver Castle: Marvel at the Gothic grandeur of the Palma Cathedral, then head up to Bellver Castle for sweeping city and sea vistas.
- Brunchit Café: A must for foodie brunch loving travelers—try their acai bowls, avocado toasts, and specialty coffees.
- Tapas Crawl: I hopped between two local tapas bars—savoring patatas bravas, jamón ibérico, and pan con tomate.
- Beauty Treatment: Treated myself to a rejuvenating facial at a boutique spa in downtown Palma.
From mountain villages and majestic castles to beach days and boat adventures, Mallorca truly has something for every traveler.
